DAY 2: Sun 28 Feb MILDURA – FLINDERS RANGES (BD)
An early start this morning crossing the South Australian border and travelling through the Riverland region to the township of Burra which is classified by the National Trust. Copper from Burra’s “Monster Mine” saved South Australia from bankruptcy in the 1940s and it was the largest metal mine in the country employing 1000 people. Cornish and Welsh miners flocked to Burra to work for the South Australian Mining Association and some set up homes in dugouts hewn out of the banks of the Burra Creek. Afterwards push through to Wilpena Pound, set in Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park, a natural amphitheatre of mountains covering eight times the area of Uluru and is 300 metres higher, such an awe-inspiring vision to behold! Tomorrow we’ll have the chance to discover the extraordinary landscape that is over 600 million years old. Overnight: Wilpena Pound Resort

DAY 3: Mon 01 Mar FLINDERS RANGES (BLD)
A local guide will join us for an insider’s tour of this stunning National Park. The Flinders Ranges are well known for their wild flowers but it’s the dramatic gorges and spectacular peaks that are the real highlights of this beautiful part of Australia. Visit two gorges, (subject to weather and road conditions) Brachina Gorge and Bunyeroo Gorge. Also visit Gumcreek Station for lunch before returning to Wilpena late-afternoon. Overnight: As Above

DAY 4: Tue 02 Mar PICHI RICHI RAIL (BLD)
Today visit Port Augusta which located at the top of the Spencer Gulf. Major transcontinental rail services pass through Port Augusta as do the main east/west and north/south highways. The town was once an important base for arid land explorations to the north and later became a busy shipping port. Take a brief look around then embark on a historical train journey aboard the Pichi Richi Rail. This section of rail line is the original Port Augusta to Alice Springs line travelling through the famous Pichi Richi Pass to the historic township of Quorn. The railway heritage is reflected in the names of some of the old hotels - The Grand Junction and the Trans Continental. After lunch at the Great Northern Lodge continue north stopping at the Kanyaka Homestead just off the main road. Before returning to Wilpena, spend some time at the Jeff Morgan Art Gallery - Jeff has a superb reputation in the art world with his awe inspiring creations. Overnight: As Above
