KIMBERLEY COASTAL CRUISE

KIMBERLEY COASTAL CRUISE

$8490 per person

Departing 29 May 21. This unique package includes a 12 day/11 night cruise and you will fly in and out of Broome (last night on tour in Broome is included) with an option available to extend your holiday at the end of the cruise. For those who have travelled to the Kimberley previously, this is a spectacular way of seeing the area from a totally different perspective – the smaller vessel allowing us entry to many fabulous waterways that would not be accessible usually.

Join Pat Mangan on this private small group charter cruising the pristine wilderness of the Kimberley coastline

There are 11 twin/double cabins on this cruise so it is a first in, best dressed basis. Cabin configurations are (5) outside and (6) inside with the inside cabins slightly larger in size & without a window.
All cabins are one standard and are air conditioned.
An initial deposit of $2500 per person is payable immediately to reserve your cabin with the balance mid March 2021

We will enjoy 2 – 3 shore excursions each day, and have the opportunity for some fishing at certain spots. There is NO overnight sailing as part of this cruise so you will not miss any of the breathtaking scenery.
I look forward to welcoming you on what will be a unique and wonderful experience through the exquisite Kimberley region.

DAY 1: Sat 29 May ARRIVE BROOME – DERBY – BOARD CRUISE VESSEL (D)
Arrive into Broome airport this morning (airfares own expense) and meet your vehicle and driver who will transfer you to Derby and the cruise vessel. After being welcomed on board with a drink and information from the Captain, settle into your cabin and enjoy the scenery as we cruise to the top of King Sound. Overnight: Catamaran
2
DAY 2: Sun 30 May SILICA BEACH (BLD)
Near the entrance to King Sound lies Silica Beach which boasts pure white sands and clear blue water. It’s the kind of beach one imagines can be found on an island paradise and is a lovely place to take a dip. Overnight: As Above
3
DAY 3: Mon 31 May SILVERGULL CREEK & SQUATTERS ARMS (BLD)
Travelling down Silvergull Creek brings you to Squatters Arms where a unique couple, Phil & Marion, made their home for around 20 years after they sailed in and discovered this beautiful spot with its freshwater springs. Sadly, Marion passed away in 2014, but there are managers there to welcome you. You can take a stroll in the rainforest that Phil & Marion created or just relax in their spring fed tank with amazing views. Overnight: As Above
4
DAY 4: Tue 01 Jun YAMPI SOUND & CROCODILE CREEK (BLD)
Within Yampi Sound are the islands Iron, Koolan and Cockatoo, boasting some of the richest iron ore deposits in the world. When mining operations existed on Koolan Island, the miners would get away to Crocodile Creek with its beautiful rock pools fed by fresh waterfalls. Situated above the creek, access is via a ladder bolted into the rock meaning that despite the name of the creek, the pools are too high for crocodiles to reach and are an ideal place for a dip. Overnight: As Above
5
DAY 5: Wed 02 Jun TALBOT BAY & HORIZONTAL FALLS (BLD)
Talbot Bay is home to the famous Horizontal Falls. The region’s massive tides create a spectacular scene, sending huge volumes of water pouring through two narrow chasms in the land formation when the tides reach peak flow in both rising and falling conditions. With up to 10m of height difference between the waters of each of the two inland bays and the sea, the water pushing through the two chasms creates a mass of whirlpools and raging currents. In Cyclone Creek, the incredible marine life includes impressive Tawny Nurse sharks. Overnight: As Above
6
DAY 6: Thu 03 Jun RAFT POINT (BLD)
Raft Point was so named because of the Indigenous people who were spotted with their rafts used for hunting turtles, rays and dugongs. This is home to some ancient and well preserved Wandjina cave paintings. We walk to the caves, where you will take in the breathtaking views over Doubtful Bay and Steep Island. Overnight: As Above
7
DAY 7: Fri 04 Jun MONTGOMERY REEF (BLD)
North West of Raft Point is Montgomery Reef. This 400 sq km reef can emerge up to 4m above the waterline at low tide, creating a visual spectacle of waterfalls and sea life. Several small islands dot the reef and support rich mangroves, crocodiles, turtles, birds and fish. Ample time is given to explore this natural wonder. Overnight: As Above
8
DAY 8: Sat 05 Jun SAMPSON INLET (BLD)
Further north is Sampson Inlet which leads into a monsoonal rainforest pocket with almost permanent fresh water. Many previous passengers have called this the most beautiful spot on the Kimberley coast. Keen photographers should remember their cameras! Overnight: As Above
9
DAY 9: Sun 06 Jun HANOVER BAY & CAMDEN HARBOUR (BLD)
Within Hanover Bay are the pristine sands of Hanover Beach. It is here, in 1838, where Lt. George Grey unloaded his Timor ponies and began the first land based expedition of North West Australia in search of the great inland sea. The journey soon ended when he was speared by Aborigines. Despite this, Lt Grey reported back positively describing the area as ‘lush and fertile’. This glowing report encouraged optimistic farmers to establish a new settlement in Camden Harbour in 1864 which was a total disaster from the start. The ruins of that settlement, which lasted only 9 months, can still be seen and the graves of some of these tough pioneers can be found on nearby Sheep Island. Overnight: As Above
10
DAY 10: Mon 07 Jun PRINCE REGENT RIVER & KING CASCADE FALLS (BLD)
Within the St George Basin are two flat topped hills, Mt Trafalgar and Mt Waterloo, which provide a spectacular backdrop as you cruise to the mouth of the Prince Regent River. Get your cameras ready as you experience some spectacular scenery, flora and fauna on our journey down this remote and pristine waterway, concluding at the majestic King Cascade Falls. View these magnificent falls which cascade over fern covered tiers in breathtaking splendour. Overnight: As Above
11
DAY 11: Tue 08 Jun ARRIVAL : DERBY & BROOME (B)
On our last morning we head back to Derby, through King Sound, where you will be transferred by bus back to Broome, taking with you memories to last a lifetime, and arrive at your overnight accommodation. Overnight: Broome
12
DAY 12: Wed 09 Jun BROOME – FLY HOME OR EXTEND YOUR STAY (B)
Fly home today, or alternatively extend your stay in this beautiful pearling township.

Please Note:
The itinerary lists all the places you can reasonably expect to visit on your cruise. It is likely, however, that there will be additional places of interest visited on the actual cruise, time and tides allowing, some of these places are well known, but others have been charted by our Captain during his 11 years of travelling the Kimberley Coast. It is his aim to maximise the cruising experience, so he will decide when and where he will take you on the Kimberley coast. In this sense, every cruise is a little different and each passenger’s experience is unique.
Alcohol is not included. There is a bar on board – a Boat Account is kept for the duration of the cruise for purchases to be finalised at the end by Mastercard or Visa. Prices are similar to pub prices. Optional excursions operated by a 3rd party are not included in the cost. No mobile phone or internet coverage is available on the boat.  The vessel is equipped with a satellite phone for emergency use. There is a computer on board to upload photos to a memory stick. Towards the end of the day passengers are welcome to fish from the duckboard.  Handlines & bait provided. Provided on the boat is the following – linen, towels, beach towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, soap, hairdryers, sunscreen, insect repellent, day packs, walking sticks, peaked caps & drink bottles. Travel insurance is mandatory to cover cruising in Australian waters. For a quote please contact us.
